MACS and Buildframe solutions were contacted directly by the main contractor to provide a bespoke offsite solution to build a modern sixth form college extension building to an existing campus. The new modern facilities would provide additional learning space for 11–18-year-old students offering an additional 15 classrooms designed for specialist teaching and study facilities. All structural walls were designed using cold-rolled steel sections with cold-rolled roof joists to form the roof over large open span rooms below. The structure also called for a fully galvanized cantilever hot-rolled frame entrance canopy, with infill cold-rolled parapet walls that were fully detailed by MACS and installed by Buildframe Solutions. A hot-rolled prefabricated stair unit with balustrade was also designed / supplied and installed by MACS and Buildframe Solutions on site to provide a cost-effective solution delivered on time to the customer.
